Having the Right Colors for Your Business

You've Read:

Can you imagine the Internet being in black-and-white. Thank goodness for color! It adds so much to our online experience. For one, colors tell us a lot about a business. Color can convey emotion, personality and information without having to say anything.

Whether you’re a new business or you’ve been around for awhile, here’s a couple of resources that can help you discover & perfect the colors you use in your brand and on your website.

Color Personality

Colors have personalities. For example, green tends to represent growth and health. Orange on the other hand conveys a message of cheerfulness and confidence. If your business doesn’t have a primary color, consider what your values are and base your brand color on the color that matches your values. If you already have a color as part of your brand, does it convey the right message?

REFERENCE: Check out this blog post: https://www.oberlo.com/blog/color-psychology-color-meanings to 1) learn more 2) see a list of colors and what personality they represent and 3) see how popular brands such as Best Buy, Lowe’s and McDonald’s portray their personality through their choice of colors.

FOR ME: My primary color is blue. It represents trust and dependability, which happens to be two of my core values.

Complimentary Colors & Palettes

Just because they’re your favorite colors doesn’t mean they go well together. Nor does it mean they should go together on your website. There’s actually a science behind which colors go well with each other. HINT: Red and green are more than just Christmas colors!

REFERENCE NO. 01: Adobe’s Color Wheel: https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel allows you to see colors that compliment each other well. You can start off with your own brand color or pick any color as your base color and then see which colors match it best.

REFERENCE NO. 02: Colormind’s website: http://colormind.io provides you with a color palette based on an initial color OR on a picture that you upload. Take one of the 5 swatches, lock it and then generate the additional colors. It’ll then provide you with the appropriate shades, accents and accessory colors for your website.

Questions about what colors would work best for your brand … or on switching out your existing colors? Let me know if I can help.
