I see this question quite a bit and thought it would be helpful to let everyone know what it means and what you need to do (or don’t need to do!).
I love using A2 Hosting for my web design work. I use it on my websites. I highly recommend it for my client’s websites as well. They’re affordable, the service is great and their customer service is outstanding. As part of their service, they will occasionally scan your website to see if there are any outdated plugins that need to be updated. NOTE: You can read more about my Top 10 plugins I use on every website here.) If they find an outdated plugin, they’ll send you an email that looks like this:
It will have “Outdated Applications Detected On Package … “ in the subject line and the email will say something like the following:
“As part of our commitment to providing you with a secure hosting environment, we performed an automated scan of your domain(s) www.yourdomain.com hosted on az1-ss24.a2hosting.com and detected the following outdated application(s):
Elementor Website Builder 3.3.0 at /home/public_html/
Keep in mind, updates often include security patches and bug fixes that will make your site more stable and secure. If you do not take any action, your site may become vulnerable to malware and other security issues.
If you are working with a development partner, please forward this email on to them as they will be able to take care of the update for you.”
email from A2Hosting.com
That’s nice of them to let you know. But … it doesn’t really matter … IF … you have your plugins being managed by me. Here’s why:
A2 will scan your website from time to time looking for outdated plugins. It’s a safety & security risk if you don’t. If they find a plugin that needs updated, they’ll send you an email. However, I update your website’s plugins every Monday. So if a plugin releases an update on Friday and A2 does their scan on Saturday, it’ll detect the outdated plugin and send you an email. The reason it doesn’t matter is because I will be doing the update on Monday. No need to worry. I’ve got you covered.
If you’re an A2 customer and you see an email like this – there’s nothing to do. Just relax and know what you’re in good hands if you’ve signed up to have me update your plugins for you.
