The first car that I bought was a Honda Civic. It was a small, 2-door hatchback that got me to school in the mornings and to work in the evenings. It wasn’t anything great, but it was MY car. I took out a small loan for it and paid for it with my own money. At the time it was my most prized possession that I owned.
That being said, I also knew that I needed to take care of it. It required routine maintenance. I took it in for oil changes and had things replaced and repaired as needed. I also had insurance on it should something go wrong. It wasn’t cheap. Yes, I would rather have spent my money on something “fun” but to protect my investment, I needed to maintain it and take care of it.
Your website is no different.
You need to maintain and secure your website as well.
You spent a lot of money on your website. It’s a big investment. The last thing you need to have happen is to have your website be hacked, go down, or have something stop working. The truth of the matter is … it happens. A lot. But it doesn’t have to if you keep your website up to date, have routine maintenance performed on it, and make sure that’s always secure and protected.
In 2021, I provided a simple, (very) inexpensive maintenance and security package. It got the job done and provided the basics. Over this past year, I’ve been working to improve my maintenance and security plan. I have taken courses, read a number of articles, and listened to hours of podcasts on the subject.
